Beverley Flood
Head of People, Monmouthshire Building Society
In her first full year as Head of People at Monmouthshire Building Society, Beverley has transformed the People function through authentic, people-first leadership. She unified three independent teams to deliver a fully integrated People Strategy focused on enhancing colleague experience and supporting the Society’s new corporate strategy.
Beverley’s strategic approach shifted the team from transactional to a proactive, strategic enabler, earning her a place on the Executive team—a testament to the respect and trust she has cultivated across the organisation. Under her leadership, colleague engagement soared, with an 8.84-point increase in the Colleague Net Promoter Score, reflecting a stronger sense of belonging.
She championed a healthier workplace by leading a comprehensive review of People policies, which contributed to a 12.1% reduction in sickness days and a 15.9% drop in overall absence rates. Recognising the challenges of change, she introduced resilience training, benefiting 80% of participants and boosting wellbeing.
Beverley is passionate about fairness and opportunity, commissioning an independent EDI analysis that informed a new strategy and helped reduce the gender pay gap significantly. She also launched mentoring, coaching, and women’s health initiatives as an Accredited Menopause Coach.
Beyond the Society, Beverley impacts the wider community through her roles as a school governor and Non-Executive Director, and by leading the award-winning MBS Community Academy, which opens career pathways for underrepresented groups.
Beverley exemplifies authentic leadership by empowering others to thrive, proving leadership transcends title or team size - it’s about vision, trust, and people at heart.
