David Frost

Group People & Organisational Development Director, Dole plc

In 2024, Dole plc achieved a major milestone in its People Strategy by winning Best Large Organisation for Business Culture at the Business Culture Awards – a testament to the long-term, global cultural transformation led by Chief Human Resources Officer David Frost.

Following the merger of two of the world’s largest fresh produce businesses, David recognised the need for a unifying People Strategy to connect Dole’s 34,000 employees across 75 countries. His vision was to shift the company from a decentralised structure to a culture of collaboration, shared learning, and cross-border leadership mobility.

Central to this transformation was the creation of the Dole Key Talent Programme (KTP) – a global initiative that goes far beyond talent development. Participants are assigned strategic business projects by the CEO, fostering innovation and encouraging senior leaders to reimagine the business. The programme has driven tangible results: a 15–20% cost reduction in a transatlantic supply chain project, the development of recyclable packaging, and market entry into the US mango sector.

KTP has also created powerful cultural shifts. Cross-functional collaboration, cultural immersion, and mutual respect have replaced siloed ways of working. With 89% participant retention, 35% promoted, and 88% now viewing Dole as an employer of choice, the programme is a clear success.

David’s long-term, strategic approach has unified a global workforce and delivered sustainable business outcomes, positioning Dole as a standout employer in the industry.
