Dr Andrew Stephenson

Chief People Officer, Equiniti

Andrew Stephenson, Chief People Officer at Equiniti (EQ), has played a transformative role in 2024, helping reshape the global financial services provider into a product-led, digitised, and profitable organisation. Supporting 33 million people worldwide, EQ’s 6,000 colleagues span the UK, India, and the US. Andrew’s strategic leadership has aligned the people agenda with business priorities, driving profitability and performance.

In 2024, Andrew delivered a dynamic new people strategy focused on operational excellence, leadership development, and workforce engagement. He led a major organisational redesign, integrating siloed teams into agile global functions and restructuring around P&Ls to drive performance—resulting in a 400% profit increase in EQ’s Retirement Solutions division.

Under his leadership, the HR function removed £10m in structural cost, contributed to £1m in budget savings, and grew EQ’s India presence by 500+ roles. A direct hiring strategy saved £1m in recruitment costs, while a new EVP and high-potential programme boosted internal progression and reduced turnover by 4%.

Andrew also led Workday adoption as a strategic platform, digitising processes from recruitment to learning, and introducing gamified training and a digital apprenticeship brand—driving Levy utilisation beyond 100%.

He championed employee voice via monthly Peakon surveys, embedding feedback into business decisions and helping EQ achieve its highest-ever engagement: 50% employee promoters and a 15% Glassdoor score rise. EQ was ranked #6 Top Employer in the UK and #4 in the US.

Andrew’s data-led, commercial, and people-first approach has delivered measurable, sustainable impact.
